Spider-man And Batman Arrested Following Brawl With Man In Times Square
The New York Police Department told 1010 WINS that two men dressed as crime-fighting characters, one wearing a Batman costume and the other portraying Spider-Man, were arrested after a brawl with another man at the Crossroads of the World Saturday night.
Police said the fight started on 44th Street and Broadway after 23-year-old Thomas Rorke heckled the superheroes, CBS 2’s Matt Kozar reported. The 23-year-old Rorke allegedly provoked the costumed men with “sexually suggestive gestures” along with a friend.
Costumed characters blamed Rorke for picking fights with the super heroes. Although the police said they have not determined how the fight started, another Spider-man told the Daily News that Rorke was intoxicated and messing with Batman.
“Everybody, no matter what costume they are wearing, has the right to protect themselves. It’s like Stand Your Ground in Florida.”
Further, Captain America vouched for Spider-man, saying he is one of the best guys out there.
“He’s one of the best guys, honest, religious.”
Rorke claims he was punched in the face several times and Spider-man and Batman have been charged with misdemeanor assault. The police confirmed that Rorke sustained injuries to his face and was also hit in the chest, causing redness and pain.
This is not the first time this Batman has been taken into custody – police said he has been arrested for public urination, assault and weapons possession.
