Owner Of An Illegal Strip Club Arrested For Selling Too Expensive Drinks

Apparently, it’s perfectly fine to conduct some really shady, eyebrow-raising business as long as you’re following the official price list. This Virginia lady knows it best. It seems like local authorities could keep at least one eye closed for the fact that she was running an illegal strip joint at her place, but not that she was charging too much.

So, what was her crime? According to the official police report – the drinks she served to her guests were overpriced! Their price were a total of $2. Gasp!

Sonya Fletcher (36) and her partner in crime, Jeffrey Pope, were arrested on May 3, after one of the local visitors to her home-club complained to police about the outrageously expensive booze, as he called it – “expensive compared to other places.” That’s what really struck a nerve with him, apparently, and not half-naked women exposed to earn some bread.

Pope, however, was killed in a car accident few weeks after the arrest.

Upon searching the house, police found numerous bottles of liqueur, beer and other alcoholic beverages, as well as a stash of marijuana. On top of it all, the police had reliable info that the house turned strip joint was frequented by local drug dealers. To make matters even worse for her, Sonya Fletcher was living in said house with her children. An aggravating circumstance that will certainly put her in a bad position when trial commences.

Further inquiry revealed that Sonya Fletcher and several other women were performing a teasing performance for customers during private parties in what turned out to be a rented house. She was charged with misdemeanors and is facing trial in June 24.

The arrest of Ms Fletcher is a finale to an investigation that lasted an entire month, during which Fletcher was already taken into custody and faced interrogation regarding her private business. Despite evident breaking of the law, the police could not, until now, press charges against her ventures because no witnesses would testify against her. But here, her luck ends and Suffolk will be one “entertainment” club shorter from now on.
