Man Steals Same Ferrari Twice Within A Day
A California man was arrested for allegedly stealing the same Ferrari twice within 24 hours.
Earnie Hooks, 39, of Studio City, was stopped driving the 2014 Ferrari 458 Spider at a DUI checkpoint in the Village of Heritage on Aug. 29, according to the Fontana Police Department. Department spokesperson Martha Guzman-Hurtado told the Daily News what happened.
“Our officers stopped this vehicle and determined it was stolen — this individual fled. Later they found the vehicle abandoned in Fontana.”
Police brought the $250,000 Ferrari to an impound, but Hooks stole it again. Namely, the following day, around 3 a.m., he broke into the impound and stole the sports car for the second time.
“We have our undercover detectives working on this situation. They were able to track him down in Studio City, north of Los Angeles.”
Officers say Hooks tried to flee when they confronted him about the Ferrari on Sept. 4.
“This guy was running and he did not see the officer around the corner who had a gun pointed and ran right into it and fell. It’s one of those things you wouldn’t believe until you see it.”
Hooks was charged with theft and unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle, receiving stolen property, burglary and outstanding warrants.
