Man Accused Of Sodomizing Horse Now On Trial
Alan Barnfield, 44-years old, of Hexthorpe, Doncaster, is on trial at the Sheffield Crown Court for allegedly having sexual relations with a horse.
The crime Barnfield is accused of goes back to the summer of 2012. Prosecutors believe that Barnfield sodomized a Shetland pony by the name of Sky at a farm in Doncaster. In the early hours of August 8, Barnfield was seen by the neighbors of the farm property as he entered the farm, and they notified the police since they were worried he might be a thief.
When police came, they found Barnfield covered in sweat and with an unmistakable smell of horses on him. He was arrested immediately under the suspicion he had done something very wrong to the horses. Upon his arrest, pornographic images of men having intercourse with horses were found on his phone.
As the trial began, the jury heard the police interviews Barnfield gave when he was arrested, in which he vehemently denied having sex with those horses, or any horses ever, for that matter. He said he simply went for a late night stroll around the farm and fed one of the horses some grass. He insisted that he never came near the smaller horse, the one he was accused of sexually abusing. Barfield also said he had no idea how the incriminating (and disgusting) videos and images got on his phone.
Meanwhile, the prosecution showed the images to the jury, along with the DNA evidence found on Barfield suggesting there has definitely been some contact between him and the pony.
