Kansas City Woman Tired Of Mowing Turns Her Lawn Into A Sandbox!
Technically, making a beach out of your front lawn should be considered as a pretty creative invitation to a par-tee! Not a crime. But, since we are living in a law-abiding world that insists that beaches should not be in urban areas, we are not sure if this beach-making project will be long-lived.
Georgianna Reid (80) was, admittedly, sick and tired of mowing her lawn for 60th consecutive year and so she just simply poured 80 tons of sand over it. Problem solved!
“Now being over 60, I’ve decided that I’ve owned the house for 33 years and that I wasn’t going to mow anymore or water”, said Georgianna when asked about meaning behind her actions by KCTV 5 reporters.
City authorities were taken by surprise as they can’t even charge her with any violations, as the sand is used for landscaping purposes. Until they find some ground of actually suing her and forcing her to remove her pile of sand, Mrs Reid’s neighbors don’t mind the new playground at all. On the contrary!
Some of the neighbors are so delighted with the new addition to their street’s landscape that they are actually threatening to take measures against Kansas City in case authorities take further steps of prosecuting Mrs Reid. However, others are not so overjoyed and have already filed complaints against her. One of her neighbors said: “I’m sure it’s going to hurt the property values in this neighborhood.”Some of them even said that the street looks revolting now.
This venture was not exactly inexpensive. Mrs Reid was willing to spend $4000 all the huge amount of sand! A fine investment? A crazy one, that’s for sure. What’s next, thousands of dollars spent on sea-water? It would make sense.
And it seems that Mrs Reid has a penchant for unusual lawn ornaments, as he already had a couple of those in the past. Prior to this, she had an oversized chess set and a volleyball net, but they were both stolen.
While we wait for denouement of this strange case, as summer approaches, one thing is for sure: every day will be beach day for Mrs Reid!
