Circumcision Protester Selling Faux Foreskin Art
Artist Vincenzo Aiello is really serious about his art and his causes. His particular cause is circumcision, and he wants to put an end to the practice that he calls “barbaric.”
The Italian visionary started a Kickstarter campaign to promote his cause and is giving away very interesting incentives. Most notably, if you are willing to donate $1,000, he will give you a piece of art made out of synthetic foreskin. He makes the pieces of art from silicon resin and frames the fake foreskin pieces before sending them to you.
If you really don’t have $1,000 to shell out but you still want to support the cause, there are other fake foreskin options that you can go with. For example, if you are willing to donate $50, you can get a t-shirt with some foreskin on the front. We’re sure it’s a great conversation starter.
Aiello says that he had to get circumcised about nine years ago for medical reasons but did not elaborate.
And the project is actually doing pretty well so far. He and his group of anthropologists are looking to read a goal of $40,000 with their campaign, and will about 40 days to go, they have already raised about $12,000.
According to Aiello, circumcision, especially in America, has become a commonplace practice for no real medical reasons. He states that the process is indeed a surgery, and it’s the only known surgery that is done regularly with no medical reasoning behind it.
Aiello and other anti-circumcision advocates argue that it’s an unnecessary surgery that does nothing but make sex less enjoyable for men by decreasing penis sensitivity.
