A Stupid And Uninspired Prank Has 62 Students Arrested In New Jersey
They say one head is smarter than two, so you’d think multiple heads would come up with something deviously brilliant (or brilliantly devious) as a school prank. You’d think – and you’d be wrong. In fact, what this flock of not-that-creative students came up is downright lame, monumentally dumb and downright…well, boring.
So, what happened is this: as many as 62 young delinquents (or delinquent wannabes, as the case may be) came up with the most stereotypical scheme to wreak havoc upon their school. Instead of coming up with something bold and original that would win them weeks of newspaper headlines and Facebook groups of support, they opted to make fool of themselves.
In the night between Wednesday and Thursday last week, this gang broke into their school and simply made quite a mess in classrooms, put grease a few door handles – and peed on hallway floors! Wow, real ingenious! Of course, they all got arrested first thing in the morning, as they are obviously not grade A crime masterminds. They did not win themselves glory with their peers, needless to say.
Was it a particularly earth-shattering and groundbreaking shenanigan? No, it most certainly wasn’t. Was it worth getting arrested for? Not in this lifetime! Oh yes, another thing that won them the dumbness award: they themselves started off the alarm after they broke into school! No subtlety points for this lot, either. In the era of almost infinite knowledge and free flow of ideas via internet, there are so many ways to devise a prank that would not make a substantial financial damage to any side, technically avoiding the crime and still turning out brilliantly funny and witty, at very least. This, well…this is just not it. This is just imprudent vandalism.
No official statements yet on what made them ransack the school in this way. We guess it’s the popularity contest (gone bad). And right now, we are not sure whether their parents, friends and family should feel mad at them for partaking in a silly hijink or just disappointed that they got arrested over something so frivolous and infantile. Yes, they are young, but they’re not exactly kids who can’t tell the difference between smart humor and general lameness.
The policeman who was a first-hand witness to this fiesta of stupidity (i.e, the one who got them arrested), later admitted that the school-turned urinal was “the craziest thing he’s ever seen”. Coming from a crime fighter who’s seen his share of domestic disturbance cases, desperate junkies’ attempts at stealing and everything in between, that’s saying a lot.
