Want To Be A Hermit? Apply For A Position – But Only If You Are Outgoing!
It’s like the end of times for introverted, anti-social people. It seems like, even if you dream of or intend being a hermit, you need to have certain social skills and be all friendly and outgoing.
That’s what the employee for one of the most peculiar job positions in the world demands now: and outgoing, social hermit!
Here’s the gist: there is a cave in Verena Gorge, Switzerland, where a hermit is needed to live in it and give advice to tourists and occasional passers-by. But hermit’s daily duties don’t stop there. Moreover, he or she would have to participate in local wedding and baptism groups (that is, their rituals that happen every now and then), instruct meditation courses and, generally – love meeting people and getting friendly with them!
These are the new requirements that the employee for the position looks for in candidates, after the previous hermit quit after complaining on being overly bugged and bothered by the attention.
We are not quite sure whether the said employee actually understands the real meaning of the term hermit or is just being creative and witty in the ways of entrepreneurship. Either way, it is kind of sacrilegious to see a lifestyle of those sick and tired of society so blatantly taken over by business ideas.
Mayor of the little village, Sergio Wyniger, had this to say: “We were surprised by the amount of interest we had this time round. We have had applications from all over Europe. The cave is a protected monument and a valuable part of the region’s cultural heritage. The job of hermit is an important one.”
Psychologist and experts in similar fields of science are reporting that more and more people around the globe are expressing very strong desires towards withdrawn, lonely and aloof way of living. This phenomena is particularly widespread in developed countries of the West and Far East. The general consensus is that people in greater numbers than ever are feeling the need to get away from the complex, fast and stressful daily life they are leading that doesn’t seem to be showing signs of slowing down.
So, if you are reclusive, prefer to be left alone and dream of living like a hermit – this may have been your only chance at it. That is now ruined by business needs. How is it that extroverts always ruin the fun for introverts?
Still, if you still dreaming about living in a cavern, all by yourself, hurry and send your CV!
